The 10 Reasons Why I Fell in Love with the Great Outdoors
It's a constant, or a trend: everyone loves to spend as much time as possible outside, enjoying nature. Although many see this as a fad, I can assure you it's for a good reason. Here are 10 facts that made me completely addicted to outdoor life.
1) You Will Be Challenged
First of all, I can tell you that once the seed is planted, the thirst for being outdoors is hard to shake off. The satisfaction is surreal! Whether it's the last step on a summit, or the challenge of a simple outing, a hike for the first time, the satisfaction is exhilarating. I still remember my first experience with my best friend. It provides one of the best feelings in the world.
2) The World Will Seem Different
Being wrapped in a sleeping bag, looking at the unpolluted stars in the sky, makes you thoughtful. Yesterday's problems lose all their importance.
3) Friends Will Make Hiking Even More Fun
Nature has an interesting way of bringing people closer together and showing you your true friends. There's nothing like climbing a mountain knowing that your partner, holding the rope above you, has your life in their hands. This good dose of trust will show you how important this person is to you and your life, not only at that precise moment but also in your everyday life. What could be better than having your best friend by your side, dreaming of the next adventure with them?
4) You Won't Be Able to Live Without It
I can tell you with certainty that once you get into it, it will be hard for you to live without it. You'll imagine living those mountain sunsets or navigating an alpine lake. This desire to explore is the same that drives great climbers and all other outdoor sports enthusiasts. It's through this that they accomplish extraordinary, even impossible things.
5) It's a Refreshing Escape from Day to Day
Spending time outside gives you the peace needed to break free from your routine and clear your mind. The world imposes constant schedules, problems, tasks, and all the other inherent tensions of life. And, I love the idea of an escape into nature, the only place to escape the chaos. Not to mention, it's the best time to take a much-needed break from technology and endless notifications.
6) Freedom
Unlike the city, there aren't many rules in the great outdoors. If you want to ride your bike up the highest mountain or take a "nature bath" in a lake, go for it! There's no one to judge, and no tickets will be issued! So, go have fun in a river, jump off the highest cliff, climb the highest mountain you can find! Just be careful while doing it!
7) Your Fears Will Be Behind You
I believe that if something makes your heart race at 100 km/h and your hair stand on end, then it's something worth doing. It might scare you, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. There's nothing more rewarding than facing your silliest fears. "Do one thing every day that scares you," said Eleanor Roosevelt!
8) Everything is Breathtaking
There's no doubt that everything, from trees to rugged peaks, rivers, and lakes, is truly breathtaking. Things may not be easy; hiking can be exhausting and might involve three fruitless days. But the hard work makes the views even more stunning, and the pain disappears instantly. Don't let the journey stop you from reaching the summit!
9) You Stay Healthy
Most of the time, getting from point A to point B isn't easy, especially if you have a significant weight on your back to reach the summit. Outdoor activities rejuvenate your body as well as your mind, and believe me... you'll feel it in the morning. So, go outdoors, get a workout, and soak up some vitamin D!
10) You Never Know What to Expect
Being outdoors is a leap into the unknown, and that's what I love the most. "It's not an adventure until something goes wrong." And it's so true. There will always be difficulties and tasks to overcome. You need to surround yourself with people who want to overcome these difficulties with you and take on the challenge.
