Mechanix Wear joins forces with Netroots for the U.S. troops
This year, at the Netroots Nation conference in Providence, Rhode Island, over 100 volunteers filled the exhibition hall to gather and pack 150 care packages for the soldiers of the 841st Engineer Battalion in Afghanistan. The boxes were filled with personal notes and letters, essential items such as gel insoles, toothbrushes, socks, keffiyehs, powdered energy drinks, LED flashlights, coffee, peanut butter, and other various items, along with Mechanix Wear brand gloves. 300 pairs of all-purpose gloves made the journey to the war zones to end up in the hands of the military. Over the past 4 years, volunteers from the NFTT (Netroots for the Troops) program have shipped 1100 care packages to military personnel from three different brigades of the 3rd Marine Division, in association with the Family Readiness Office (a direct link between Marine members and their families) as well as members of the 101st Airborne Division.
"Dear Patriot, We hope this care package will be of great use to you and your hands. The entire Mechanix Wear team thanks you for your service, your dedication, and the sacrifices you and your family have made for the love of country and freedom. We are extremely honored to protect the hands of so many brave men and women of our armed forces, and we absolutely want you to know that your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. This package is a message. You are missed by your country and your loved ones. Everyone is thinking of you. You are respected. Thank you for your commitment and hard work in resolving the crisis. We send you lots of love, Mechanix Wear, Inc."
Netroots For The Troops (the Netroots Convention in support of the troops) is a project of Netroots For The Troops, Inc. We raise funds for assembly, send and ship care packages to U.S. military personnel in war zones, and provide aid and support to the families of U.S. soldiers.
