When the Blue Force Gear Trauma Kit Saves a Soldier's Life
This testimony is from an American Sergeant and instructor, eager to share his experience. Blue Force Gear gave him a platform to tell his story...
“On June 21, 2011, my sniper team was tasked with reconnoitering a site to establish a nearby cache. Once the site was deemed “safe,” three others and I were tasked with sketching it out and determining how we wanted to set up the cache later that night. When we finished, I started talking with the engineer who had declared it safe and a Marine EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). Once we finished our short conversation, we all walked away.
I had barely left when I heard and felt a massive explosion right behind me. I was thrown into the air 5 meters from where I had been standing. Before I even hit the ground, I knew what had happened. One of us had stepped on a mine. When I hit the ground, I felt intense pain in my left arm and knew I needed a tourniquet and compression bandages. With my other arm, I was able to reach and place my Blue Force Gear Trauma Kit on my chest. Then, I detached my M4, which was still attached thanks to the Vickers Sling. After that, I took out the tourniquet from my Trauma Kit and waited for the nearest team member to approach and help me.
A Matter of Timing
Before the dust even settled, other team members began to assist the three injured, including myself. If we were able to be saved and I can write you this email today, it is thanks to the effectiveness of the Blue Force Gear Trauma Kits. I am convinced that if we had not had these Blue Force Gear Trauma Kits that day, the outcome would have been much worse. The quick usability and easy instructions of the Blue Force Gear Trauma Kit are unprecedented and truly save the lives of service members in combat zones.
The Vickers Sling: Unmatched Durability
Moreover, the Vickers Sling allowed the three of us to keep our rifles in place even after being thrown into the air by the mine. Just to give you an idea of the strength and durability of the Vickers Sling, before I was ejected, I had a Nomex glove, a watch, and was wearing long sleeves. When I hit the ground, my left arm was bare. The glove, watch, and sleeve had disappeared even though they were there just seconds before. The only thing that stayed in place was my M4 held by the Vickers Sling. I would have probably bled to death if I hadn't had your highly effective device on me. Thank you again."
